## Features

### Seamless Looping

Every scene is a loop. A part always plays a whole number of times inside its parent, so changing its loops changes its speed, never its length, and nothing jumps at the seam. A time curve can bend the whole loop and it still closes.

### Composable Art

Bits, parts, compositions, scene. Sprite sheets become reusable parts with their own motion, and parts become compositions you mirror, repeat, ring, stack in depth and place again and again.

### Lights, Particles, Distortions

2D lights, looping particle fields, black holes, whirlpools, ripples and glitches, and post effects like bloom and scanlines. All of it closed-form in the loop, so it scrubs and exports exactly.

### Themes and Masks

Art is stored as 16 gray levels and a theme maps them to colors, so recoloring never touches the art. 460 palettes and about 200 mask shapes built in, and both can animate.

### Typography

Text is baked into the art like a sprite sheet, so themes, masks, lights and distortions treat it as pixels. Type, decode, glitch and wave effects, and fonts for Latin, Japanese, Chinese and Arabic.

### Export Everywhere

MP4, WebP, GIF, WebM and APNG through the real render chain, size-limited versions for Discord, social videos in every shape, icons, a Steam store kit, print-size PNGs, and web pages or React components that play the scene live.

### Unreal Engine 5

Send a scene straight into an open Unreal project. The plugin plays it live in a level or in UMG, pixel for pixel, with runtime palettes, Blueprint control and gameplay events.

### Built on Blastwave

Our own SDL3 GPU engine with cross-compiled shaders for Metal, DirectX 12 and Vulkan. The scene player lives in the engine, so games play scenes with the same code the app exports with.

### Assistant and MCP

Describe a change and an AI assistant edits the scene with the same tools the app exposes over MCP, renders designs to pick from, and keeps every step in the history.

### Focus Mode

Hide every panel and keep only the artwork. R rolls a whole new scene from your library, T transforms the one you have: a starting point in a keypress, to refine by hand into something greater.

### Sound That Loops

Drop in an MP3 or a track you made and press one button: it finds the beat, picks the best seam on a bar line and crossfades it, so the music loops with the art. No AI needed.

### Gamepad Mode

Pick up a controller and the window becomes a layout made for it: place, move, animate, randomize and recolor from the couch, with an on-screen keyboard for the assistant.

## About Bit Studio

Bit Studio is a pixel-art animation studio for artwork that loops forever. You import sprite sheets as bits, set parts up with their own motion, group them into compositions and place everything on a canvas laid out like a layer stack, with a timeline below that shows every clip's loop. Something between Photoshop and After Effects, for pixels.

Every scene loops seamlessly by design. On top of the art come 2D lights, looping particles, shader distortions, masks with borders and shine, typography and post effects, all recolored by a 16-color theme. A randomizer rolls whole starting scenes from your library, and an AI assistant can make changes you describe.

Scenes export to video, GIF, print-size PNGs, web pages and React components that play live in the browser, and to Unreal Engine 5, where a plugin plays them in your levels and UI. It runs on Blastwave, our own cross-platform engine, on Windows, Mac and Linux, and plays nicely with a gamepad.

## Developer Comment

Bit Studio is the second life of Bit - Animation Editor. The first Bit drew flat sprites with SDL's simple renderer; this one runs on Blastwave's GPU pipeline, so the same kind of compositions now get lights, distortions, masks and post effects. Most of the old pixel bits came along.

The idea is still the same: compose high-detail pixel art that loops forever, for art pieces, installations and games.
